The development of the coating progressed step-by-step toward practical applications. It began with birch bark, from which suberin was extracted in a wet state; this material was then dried and ground into a fine powder for incorporation into a homogeneous coating formulation. An aqueous coating was prepared from this powder, ensuring the uniform distribution of suberin particles. Additional components were added to facilitate application and impart the desired functional properties. The formulation is the result of approximately a year and a half of R&D and demonstrates the concept's feasibility on a larger scale, having been tested using semi-pilot equipment that simulates industrial production at a reduced scale. This enabled the team to observe the material's behavior under conditions mirroring actual manufacturing.
