Certified finishes, fire protection, bio-based solutions and new decorative trends…

Specialist in wood finishing, Masquelack continues in 2026 its innovation strategy with several major developments around exterior joinery, fire protection, and cladding with bio-based solutions. The Catalan company, historically dedicated to varnishes and technical wood coatings, thus confirms its commitment to providing comprehensive answers to increasingly demanding market requirements: performance, durability, regulatory compliance, and aesthetics.

A range of exterior joinery finishes proven over time

Masquelack now offers a complete range of certified products meeting the highest requirements in terms of durability and protection. Indeed, several finishing processes have been awarded the highest level of compliance by FCBA according to standard NF P23-305, representing a true performance benchmark. This particularly demanding standard requires several years of real-life testing to achieve the highest performance levels; five years of validation were necessary. This recognition confirms the ability of Masquelack exterior joinery finishing systems to ensure excellent long-term resistance to external stresses.

Masquesafe: fire reaction without compromising aesthetics

Another major innovation: Masquesafe, the intumescent solution developed to meet new requirements in terms of fire reaction on wood substrates. The goal was not only to achieve high technical performance but also to offer a finish that is truly usable by joinery and fit-out manufacturers. MasqueSafe is a water-based intumescent varnish that enables wood to achieve Euroclass B,s1,d0 classification, a level particularly sought after in regulated markets. For wall applications, the system is complemented by MasqueSafe Top Coat W770, a protective finish that improves physicochemical performance while maintaining the B,s1,d0 fire reaction classification. Four Cosy Vintage colours enrich the standard MasqueSafe colour palette, making it possible to combine fire safety performance with aesthetic freedom.

MASQUESAT: the new name for Masquelack saturators with a new colour range, the LATITUDE collection

For more than ten years, Masquelack saturators have strongly contributed to the brand’s development on the French market. Aesthetic appeal, a wood-like appearance, and strong durability performance have made this non-film-forming finish highly successful for exterior wood applications. Two colour ranges have driven the development of this finish: the CLASSIC range, with traditional colours (wood tones and greys), and the COSY VINTAGE range (iridescent tones with an aged wood appearance), which is the brand’s reference range with highly appreciated aesthetics.

All these products will now be grouped under the name MASQUESAT.

On the occasion of this new name launch, a new range will be introduced: the LATITUDE collection. “We have opened the colour spectrum to new tones more commonly used in painting,” explains Roman Peñas, Director of Masquelack. MASQUESAT, with its three colour ranges, also meets the fire reaction requirements demanded by the market.

ISCC Plus certification: a certification for bio-based products

The company has been working on sustainable solutions for many years, with a strong focus on commercial differentiation through the NET range. “We started with bio-based materials more than ten years ago with the NET range, which allows us to commercially identify our bio-based products from others. We wanted a certification so that beyond a simple marketing argument, we could provide real traceability of our bio-renewable raw materials used in our finishes and justify this to our customers. We obtained ISCC Plus certification for Industrias Quimicas Masquelack in 2025 and in March 2026 for Masquelack France. We therefore hope to support the transition towards these bio-based solutions,” says Roman Peñas, who adds: “ISCC Plus allows us to certify and quantify the amount of bio-based raw materials in our formulations. All exterior product ranges from Masquelack are available in a bio-based version. This certification will undoubtedly be an asset for the development of the NET range.”
