Établissements Gaiffe is a sawmill founded in 1965 by Claude Gaiffe in Jussarupt (Vosges). Initially specialized in primary wood processing, it joined the Sélection Vosges network in 1987. In 2005, Yves Gaiffe launched a structuring development plan and acquired the ONF site in Champ-le-Duc of 11,800 m², dedicated to secondary processing. This site is equipped with lamination, planing and profiling lines, as well as an automatic stacking system for the production of parquet flooring and strips. This flexible organization allows it to meet the needs of DIY stores and private customers. An investment of around €100 million made it possible to modernize the industrial equipment with digital wood grading systems and high-capacity drying kilns. Objective: control a continuous flow – sawing, drying, sorting, mechanical grading – notably thanks to two lines capable of processing logs of varying diameters. Gaiffe can thus handle large volumes of dried wood intended for secondary processing.
Focus on Termolegno solutions
Termolegno has installed 10 HEE kilns of 200 m³ each (2,000 m³ in total), integrating heat recovery and generating up to 35% energy savings. Custom deflectors and anemometers optimize airflows, reducing electricity consumption while improving drying quality. The interconnection of equipment enables precise monitoring of energy consumption, complemented by remote supervision of cycles. Adapted to Gaiffe’s needs – processing softwoods of varying thicknesses – the installation ensures high quality, particularly for CLT. The collaboration is based on a long-term relationship of trust, built on shared values and a common family-oriented culture.
