Mocopinus, a German company specializing in planed wood products for interior and exterior fittings, announced at the beginning of March that it would cease operations due to the lack of a buyer. Placed under insolvency proceedings with self-administration, the company was unable to find an investor to continue its operational phase, as the offers received mainly concerned real estate assets in a difficult market environment for the construction and wood industries. Management has therefore initiated a gradual shutdown of production at its Karlsruhe and Ammelshain sites in order to fulfill current orders and clear inventories before the final closure. The group’s 270 employees have been informed of the situation, while negotiations are now expected to begin with employee representatives regarding a social plan.
… and finds a buyer for its brand rights
At the same time, Cordes Holding (Cordes, Krages, Holz Henkel, Osmo and Rettenmeier) is continuing its consolidation in wood finishes through the takeover of Lignum-Finish GmbH and the acquisition of the rights to the Mocopinus brand. Effective retroactively from January 1, 2026, the move is part of the self-administration proceedings of Mocopinus, whose parent company is gradually ceasing its activities. The 11 employees of Lignum-Finish GmbH are being retained and the management team remains in place, ensuring operational stability. Cordes Holding acquires all Mocopinus brand and image rights, guaranteeing the continuity of recognized products. Lignum-Finish will continue operating as an independent entity, with a positioning focused on technical finishes. With this acquisition, Cordes strengthens its expertise in wood finishing solutions and consolidates its status as an integrated player offering a complete range from solid wood to surface treatments.
